How Super Speedy Chat differs from Crisp

All plugins from Super Speedy Plugins share a SQL-first architecture and an uncompromising focus on performance — and Super Speedy Chat is no different. Here is what sets it apart:

Self-hosted WordPress live chat with an inbox you can answer from wp-admin, Discord or WhatsApp through Meta Cloud API. Keep the core conversation history in WordPress, avoid per-agent SaaS fees and choose which external channels to connect.

Crisp is a multi-channel customer communication platform hosted on Crisp's cloud — you manage conversations in their interface and your visitor data is stored on their servers. Super Speedy Chat is a focused, self-hosted WordPress live chat plugin that routes conversations directly to your WordPress admin or, via Discord integration, to a channel your team already uses — without sending visitor data to a third-party server.

How to choose between Crisp and Super Speedy Chat?

Crisp is a strong multi-channel communication tool, but if self-hosted simplicity and privacy are priorities — or if Discord is already your team's hub — Super Speedy Chat is the leaner, faster alternative. A free trial is available.

What's new in Super Speedy Chat?

1.20.8 (28th October 2026)

  • Added Search Assist controls to the Automated Responses tab: minimum title match (default 50%), minimum passage match, which content types to suggest, minimum words matched and an editable stop word list.
  • Added a Search Assist tester that shows what the robot would suggest for your recent chats, or any question you type, using the settings as you change them.
  • Improved Search Assist accuracy with a much larger default stop word list, so filler words no longer count towards a match.

1.20.7 (28th October 2026)

  • Renamed the Canned Responses tab to Automated Responses and gathered every automatic reply setting on it: Welcome Message, Instant Reply, the reply timeout and what happens when nobody replies, Contact Details to Ask For, the away welcome message and email prompt, and Search Assist.

1.20.6 (28th October 2026)

  • Fixed apostrophes and ampersands showing as codes such as "We're away right now" in the away header, away welcome and attention teaser.
