WooCommerce Core Filters: 100,000-product benchmark
WooCommerce core filters was tested on 100,000 simple products with Redis object caching off and on. The benchmark used ten fixed filter cases, requested twice, with expected product counts checked on every request.
In this run, Redis changed the second-pass average from 697.530 ms to 130.520 ms, a 567.010 ms reduction. This is one controlled run per cache mode, not a claim that Redis always changes network TTFB by the same amount.
Filter request results
| Redis | Correct | First-pass TTFB | Second-pass TTFB | PHP render | DB queries | Peak PHP memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Off | 20/20 | 740.000 ms | 697.530 ms | 670.097 ms | 92.30 | 82.50 MiB |
| On | 20/20 | 448.030 ms | 130.520 ms | 230.890 ms | 4.10 | 17.50 MiB |
TTFB includes network and web-server time. PHP render time, database queries and peak request memory are reported separately so a network fluctuation is not mistaken for plugin execution time.
Visitor and wp-admin response
Independent page probes ran before, during and after the fixed filter workload. Values are average TTFB.
| Redis | Visitor before / during / after | wp-admin before / during / after |
|---|---|---|
| Off | 720.020 / 509.467 / 527.400 ms | 205.780 / 183.967 / 144.180 ms |
| On | 305.880 / 149.933 / 149.700 ms | 154.280 / 220.667 / 181.740 ms |
Measured server activity
| Redis | CPU avg / max | RAM avg / max | CPU core-seconds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Off | 27.59% / 41.50% | 4442.7 / 4552.5 MiB | 21.148 |
| On | 14.43% / 24.75% | 4367.5 / 4391.2 MiB | 7.814 |
Method, versions and reproducibility
The catalogue contained 100,000 simple products. Each configuration ran the same ten semantic cases twice in a fixed order, starting with the shop page. The cases covered the shop, category, brand, colour, size and combined filters. Every recorded request returned the expected product count.
