Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people ask before and just after installing Super Speedy Emails. If something is broken rather than unclear, start with Troubleshooting instead.
Sending and delivery
Does Super Speedy Emails send email itself, or do I need another service?
It sends through WordPress’s wp_mail() by default, so it works out of the box. For real volume, and for delivery, open, click and bounce tracking, connect a provider such as Mailgun. See Choosing & Configuring an Email Provider.
Are the emails HTML or plain text?
Plain text, converted to tidy HTML with clickable links when sent. There is no drag-and-drop designer, which is deliberate: plain-text-first emails are more reliable and land in the inbox more often. You edit the wording in Editing Email Templates.
How do I test without emailing real people?
Set Send mode to Redirect (everything arrives at your address) or Log-only (recorded, nothing sent) under Settings → Sending. See Test Modes.
A site left on Log-only looks exactly like a site with a broken mail server: campaigns complete, the log fills up, and nothing arrives. It is the first thing to check when “no emails are going out”.
Subscribers and lists
Can I import subscribers from another platform?
Yes, from MailPoet, MailerLite or your WooCommerce customers, via WP-CLI. Bounced and complained states come across as suppressions rather than importing the address clean. See Migrating to Super Speedy Emails and the WP-CLI Command Reference.
Will uninstalling delete my subscribers?
Only if you tick Delete data on uninstall under Settings → Advanced before removing the plugin. By default your data is kept, so you can reinstall without loss.
Do I need WooCommerce?
No. Lists, forms, newsletters, campaigns and automations all work on a plain WordPress site. WooCommerce unlocks the commerce-specific parts: order opt-in, product-owner mail, purchase summaries and audience targeting by what somebody bought. See WooCommerce Integration.
Consent and unsubscribes
Can somebody opt out of marketing but still get product updates?
Yes, and that is the default behaviour. Marketing and product-update emails carry separate opt-outs, so leaving your newsletter does not silence a security-relevant update for a plugin they rely on. Only a global opt-out stops both. See Unsubscribes & the Preference Centre.
Do unsubscribe links stop working after a while?
No. Every unsubscribe token issued is recorded, and the unsubscribe, preference-centre and opt-in pages accept any link ever issued to that subscriber. A link in an email from six months ago still works, so a recipient who digs out an old message can still opt out rather than reaching for the spam button.
Can one unsubscribe stop everything instead?
Yes, if you prefer it. Settings → General → Unsubscribe scope makes any unsubscribe link end all bulk email and drop the subscriber from every list, whatever the link said. Transactional and onboarding email is unaffected, so the confirmation needed to re-subscribe still reaches them. It is off by default, and it suits a site that would rather lose the reach than risk a spam complaint.
Why does somebody need to confirm their email address?
Double opt-in proves the address belongs to the person who typed it, which keeps invalid and malicious signups off your list and protects your sending reputation. It is a per-list setting. See Double Opt-in.
Customising and automating
Can I customise who gets support and update emails, and what they say?
Yes, and it is a headline feature. A plugin registers an email type with its own recipient and content callbacks, so you decide in PHP exactly who receives a product-update email and what is in it: an active licence, a purchase in the last year, a plan tier, a region, a custom field. See the Automated Support Emails Developer Guide, which is written so you can hand it to an AI assistant and have it write the function for you.
Can an AI assistant run my email marketing?
Yes. The plugin exposes a full agent-control surface, tiered so an assistant can read and draft freely but cannot send without explicit confirmation, and is bounded by a hard recipient ceiling. See Using AI to Manage Your Emails (MCP).
Requirements
What does it need to run?
WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. WooCommerce is optional. An email provider account is not required to start, but is strongly recommended before sending at volume.
