Tested up toWordPress 7.1

1.20.828 October 2026

  • Added Search Assist controls to the Automated Responses tab: minimum title match (default 50%), minimum passage match, which content types to suggest, minimum words matched and an editable stop word list.
  • Added a Search Assist tester that shows what the robot would suggest for your recent chats, or any question you type, using the settings as you change them.
  • Improved Search Assist accuracy with a much larger default stop word list, so filler words no longer count towards a match.

1.20.728 October 2026

  • Renamed the Canned Responses tab to Automated Responses and gathered every automatic reply setting on it: Welcome Message, Instant Reply, the reply timeout and what happens when nobody replies, Contact Details to Ask For, the away welcome message and email prompt, and Search Assist.

1.20.628 October 2026

  • Fixed apostrophes and ampersands showing as codes such as "We're away right now" in the away header, away welcome and attention teaser.

1.20.528 October 2026

  • Added an Instant Reply (away) setting to the Canned Responses tab, sent instead of the Instant Reply outside your opening hours.

1.20.422 October 2026

  • Added an Instant Reply setting to the Canned Responses tab: the robot sends your text, such as "Please wait while we connect you...", straight after a visitor's first message.

1.20.35 October 2026

  • Fixed the Discord tab's Test Connection still reporting "No answer from the companion bot within 15 seconds" after the companion bot answered.

1.20.25 October 2026

  • Fixed the Discord tab's Test Connection reporting "No answer from the companion bot within 15 seconds" when an up-to-date companion bot did answer.

1.20.14 October 2026

  • Closing a chat no longer asks for confirmation; closing deletes nothing, and replying reopens the chat.

1.20.02 October 2026

  • Added Contact Details to Ask For on the Behaviour tab: the "leave your details" prompt asks for an email (the default), a phone number, or either of the two.
  • A phone number a visitor leaves shows on the Chats list and conversation sidebar, in the chat alert windows (tap to call), in the admin notification emails, and in personal-data exports.

1.19.12 October 2026

  • Fixed an admin's reply occasionally raising a chat alert for every admin.

1.19.02 October 2026

  • The admin chat alert check loads only Super Speedy Chat and the plugins ticked under "Plugins to keep loading in Fast mode" on every Ajax Type, Normal included; visitor chat requests on Normal still load every plugin.
  • The Ultra Ajax mu-plugin is installed whatever the Ajax Type (mu-plugin 2.6.0).

1.18.12 October 2026

  • Fixed the Ultra Ajax status check answering on the chat alert check's address for logged-out visitors (mu-plugin 2.5.1).

1.18.02 October 2026

  • Every message in the chat alert windows, from the visitor, an admin or the robot, shows its date and time underneath, such as "Today 14:32", "Yesterday 09:10" or "2 Oct 14:32", in your own time zone.
  • The visitor chat bubble shows the same date and time under each message, not just the time.
  • Fixed the last docked chat window running off the screen, with its Send button cut off, when more chats were open than fit.

1.17.12 October 2026

  • A visitor message that fails to send stays in the chat marked "Not sent" with the reason, such as "No connection", and a Retry link.
  • A message sent while the chat is still connecting is sent once the connection is ready.

1.17.02 October 2026

  • Discord Test Connection now tests every part of the connection in both directions and lists each check as passed, failed (with Discord's own error, e.g. "Missing Access") or not run, instead of only checking the bot token.
  • The test posts a "connection test" message and thread in your Discord channel; replying in that thread within 60 seconds optionally checks that replies reach your website.
  • Companion bot 1.1.0 answers the test, proving it is running, watching the right channel and using the right secret: copy in the new discord-bot.js and restart the bot.
  • A failed send to Discord is recorded and shown by Test Connection.
  • Tested up to WordPress 7.1.

1.16.32 October 2026

  • Fixed a click on the chat alert bell being missed when the chat list refreshed during the click.

1.16.22 October 2026

  • Fixed the first click on the chat alert bell doing nothing; it plays the alert sound and opens every waiting chat.

1.16.12 October 2026

  • Chat alerts for administrators check for new chats at the Poll Interval visitors use (every second with Ultra Ajax), so admins hear a new chat as fast as visitors hear a reply.

1.16.02 October 2026

  • Added chat alerts for administrators on every page of the site, front end and wp-admin: a rail on the right edge lists waiting and active chats, with a desktop notification, sound and tab-title count for each new chat.
  • Administrators can reply to chats from any page in docked chat windows, which stay open with any unsent reply as they move between pages.
  • The alert sound plays in any tab of the site you have clicked, even behind another window, once per browser however many tabs are open.
  • The rail's bell pulses when the browser will block the alert sound, and one click on it enables the sound.
  • Added an Admin Chat Alerts setting on the Behaviour tab: alert every admin for follow-up messages, or only the admin who replied first.
  • The first admin to reply to an unassigned chat is assigned to it.
  • The visitor chat bubble does not load for administrators, who answer from the rail; use a private window to see the site as a visitor.

1.15.230 September 2026

  • Fixed deleting conversations and editing or deleting canned responses on servers that refuse HTTP DELETE and PUT requests, such as many IIS setups.
  • Failed actions in the Chats admin show the reason, e.g. "Request failed (HTTP 403): Cookie check failed", instead of doing nothing.
  • The browser tab title on the Chats page shows the number of chats waiting for a reply, e.g. "(2) Super Speedy Chat".
  • Fixed the Chats page alert sound when "New message" is a custom uploaded sound or None.
  • The Chats page says when the browser has blocked the alert sound, and one click on the page enables it.

1.15.129 September 2026

  • Renamed the Discord bot's settings template to env-example so it is included in the plugin download; rename it to .env before starting the bot.
  • Fixed the Discord bot crashing on Windows with "Assertion failed: !(handle->flags & UV_HANDLE_CLOSING)" when its token is wrong; it exits with the login error instead.
  • Added links to the Linux and Windows companion bot guides on the Discord tab.

1.1522 August 2026

  • Deferred/lazy load JS & CSS
  • Updated super-speedy-settings to the latest version
  • Hardened the shared settings module and removed its Jetpack Autoloader dependency
  • Updated super-speedy-settings to 1.8.0, restoring the official WordPress MCP Adapter
  • Shortened the Super Speedy submenu label to Chat

1.14.516 August 2026

  • Chat data now answers Tools > Export Personal Data and Tools > Erase Personal Data, matching on the address a visitor typed into the chat and on the WordPress account with that address
  • Erasing a person removes their name, email address, browser, referrer, page address, account link and any WhatsApp number and profile name, and keeps the conversation and its messages so your support history stays readable
  • Deleting a WordPress user now anonymises their chat history the same way, instead of leaving conversations behind under an account that no longer exists
  • New ssc_conversation_anonymised action so an add-on can clear its own channel identity when a conversation is anonymised

1.14.414 August 2026

  • Replaced the bundled MCP Adapter and AI Engine integration with one shared Abilities bridge, a dedicated least-privilege agent user and separate execute and plugin-install permissions

1.14.313 August 2026

  • Fixed a fatal class redeclaration when multiple active Super Speedy plugins bundled the same Jetpack Autoloader; shared MCP packages now load once from the newest settings module

1.14.213 August 2026

  • Added an MCP setup page and bundled the official WordPress MCP Adapter, while deferring to the official standalone plugin when installed

1.14.111 August 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings to the latest version

1.1411 August 2026

  • Visitor IP addresses are no longer stored, and updating removes the ip_address column from the conversations table along with every address held in it
  • Added a site-wide daily limit on chat messages relayed out to Discord and WhatsApp, set with the ssc_channel_daily_cap filter and reported in wp-admin when it is reached
  • Chat sessions now use a visitor token issued by your own site, so a conversation is only ever started under a key the site generated
  • WhatsApp webhook requests that fail their signature check are logged once a minute per reason rather than once each, which keeps genuine entries in the 25-entry activity log
  • The Ultra Ajax status check moved from yoursite.com/?is_ssc_ultra_ajax_active to yoursite.com/wp-json/ssc/v1/?is_ssc_ultra_ajax_active
  • The benchmark's full-load comparison now uses a one-off secret, matching the Fast and Ultra comparisons
  • Tested up to WordPress 7.0

1.13.810 August 2026

  • Visitor IP addresses are no longer included in the Discord thread that opens for a new chat
  • NEW Delete All Data setting on the Settings tab - tick it and deactivating the plugin drops every chat table and deletes every setting, including your channel and AI credentials. It is off by default and is never carried in a settings export, so importing a settings file cannot switch it on
  • Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen now also removes the two WhatsApp tables and the last few leftover options

1.13.74 August 2026

  • The Ultra Ajax mu-plugin now updates itself whenever the plugin updates, instead of waiting until you next open the Status tab
  • Search Assist now suggests site-search results on Ultra Ajax sites with no LLM key configured
  • New chat conversations send their admin email notification on Ultra Ajax sites, which previously only sent when a visitor left their email address
  • Admin notification emails now include the visitor's question, the page they were on, and what the robot suggested, so you can answer without opening the dashboard
  • A warning appears in wp-admin if the mu-plugin cannot be updated, naming both versions

1.13.63 August 2026

  • Updated the shared Super Speedy settings module: AI agents can check your licence and install other Super Speedy plugins over MCP, now also exposed on AI Engine's MCP endpoint when AI Engine is active
  • New Check frequency setting - cap licence, update and changelog checks to once a day or once a week, and see when the licence was last checked
  • Licence and changelog checks fail fast when superspeedyplugins.com cannot be reached, instead of hanging the settings page
  • The newest installed copy of the shared Super Speedy settings code now runs site-wide, whichever plugin loads first - previously the alphabetically-first plugin's often-older copy won
  • AI agents can read and change the chat settings over MCP (API tokens never echoed back) and check chat health - availability, waiting conversations, relay status - also exposed on AI Engine's MCP endpoint

1.131 August 2026

  • NEW Test Mode setting - the chat bubble only appears for visitors whose URL includes ?ssc-test=1 (remembered for their browser session), so you can try chat on a live site before showing it to the public
  • Fixed the Discord, WhatsApp and Status settings tabs each showing another tab's content
  • Saving settings now returns you to the tab you saved from instead of the Chats tab
  • Added ? help tooltips explaining the WhatsApp Re-engagement Template and Template Language settings
  • The webhook instructions on the WhatsApp tab now link to your Meta apps dashboard and the setup guide in our knowledge base
  • Password manager popups (Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass, Dashlane) no longer appear over the token and secret fields on the settings page
  • NEW settings export and import on the Status tab - exports leave out your tokens and secrets unless you tick the box, and imports only accept settings the plugin recognises
  • NEW webhook activity log on the WhatsApp tab - every webhook Meta sends (received, ignored or rejected, with the reason) is listed with its time, so you can see from the GUI whether inbound messages are arriving, being refused, or never reaching your site at all
  • Fixed real WhatsApp messages never arriving despite a verified webhook: Test Connection now checks that your app is subscribed to your WhatsApp Business Account and subscribes it automatically if Meta's setup flow skipped that step, with a new Business Account ID (asset_id) field it usually fills in by itself
  • Fixed website chat messages not forwarding to your WhatsApp when Ultra Ajax is enabled - the fast path now pushes to WhatsApp like it already did to Discord (mu-plugin 1.3.0, updated automatically when you visit the Status tab)
  • All WhatsApp send attempts, successes and failures now appear in the activity log on the WhatsApp tab, with the exact Meta error message when a send fails
  • Logged-in visitors now show their real name in conversations and in Discord/WhatsApp forwards instead of Visitor, including when Ultra Ajax is enabled
  • Replies you send by WhatsApp quote-reply now show your configured Shared Display Name in the chat instead of Admin (WhatsApp)
  • NEW Display tab in the plugin settings with every appearance option and a live preview beside them - colours, title, icons, teaser text and the attention animation all update as you type
  • NEW Catch Attention - wobble, bounce, shake, pulse or glow the chat bubble after time on page, scroll depth, exit intent or when a reply arrives while the chat is closed, with a frequency cap, an optional dismissable teaser bubble with your own text, and automatic respect for visitors with reduced motion enabled
  • NEW Ajax Type selector on the Settings tab - Normal REST (full WordPress load), Fast REST (WordPress boots with only the plugins you tick) or Ultra Ajax (full bypass), each explained honestly with a tooltip covering the real trade-offs
  • NEW one-click Ajax benchmark - times all three types against your own server (read-only, five samples each) and verifies each returns responses identical to a full WordPress load before naming a winner (mu-plugin 2.0.0)
  • Fixed the WordPress 6.7+ warning Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly for the super-speedy-chat domain
  • NEW Start Open option - the chat window can open automatically on page load, staying closed for the rest of the session once a visitor closes it
  • NEW Powered by Super Speedy Chat footer link can now be switched off (on by default), and it links to the product page
  • The Display preview now uses the real front-end widget at full size and plays the actual visitor experience on a loop: attention nudge, teaser, a cursor clicking the bubble, and the window bouncing open - or starting open if you choose Start Open
  • Clearing the chat window title now leaves it empty instead of reverting to Chat, for headers carried by an image
  • The benchmark bars now fill smoothly forward against a live estimate and settle at their true proportions instead of resetting mid-run, using the same bar logic as Super Speedy Ajax Prices (shared reusable module)
  • Chat responses now send explicit no-store cache headers on every path, guarding against misconfigured page caches or CDNs ever storing one visitor's messages
  • NEW Sounds panel on the Display tab - choose separate open, close and new-message sounds from the bundled set, pick No sound, or upload your own audio through the media library, with a play button to audition each one and a volume slider (moved from the Behaviour tab)
  • NEW separate close sound - the close click can play its own sound instead of reusing the open one (it still follows the open sound unless you change it)
  • Clicking the bubble in the Display preview now plays your chosen open and close sounds at your chosen volume, exactly like the front end
  • The WordPress Customizer section has been removed - appearance is edited on the Display tab, whose preview shows things the Customizer never could (the attention animations, sounds, open/close behaviour); your saved appearance settings carry over unchanged
  • NEW Window background and Message box background colours on the Display tab - dark themes for the chat window are now possible
  • Text colours now adapt automatically: pick a dark background and the text switches to white, pick a light one and it switches to dark - applied to the header, visitor messages, trigger button, window and message box, so no colour choice can leave text unreadable
  • Removed the old Ultra Ajax checkbox from the General tab - the Ajax Type selector on the Settings tab is the one control now, and fixed the front end using the aggressive Ultra polling speeds when the old checkbox was ticked but Ajax Type said otherwise
  • NEW Opening Hours tab - a weekly schedule (two ranges per day, overnight ranges supported, site timezone) plus instant Snooze and "I'm around" overrides, so the chat knows when you are actually available
  • NEW while away the bubble can show a snooze badge (crescent moon, Zzz, clock or amber dot), hide completely, or stay unchanged - with an away header line that can show visitors when you are back in their own timezone, a separate away welcome message, and an option to ask for their email straight away
  • Catch Attention nudges and Start Open pause automatically while away - no wobbling at visitors at 3am
  • NEW pause Discord and/or WhatsApp forwards while away - your phone stays quiet overnight; messages are still stored, still in the dashboard, email notifications still send, and your own replies always go out (mu-plugin 2.1.0, updated automatically when you visit the Settings tab)
  • Availability rides on every chat poll, so pages served stale from a full-page cache correct their away state within seconds
  • NEW Search Assist - when no admin replies in time and no canned response matches, a named robot suggests 1 to 3 links from your own site search in a single chat message (just 1 when it's the obvious answer); uses Super Speedy Search when installed, standard WordPress search otherwise, and works with no AI configured at all
  • NEW Robot Name setting on the Display Names tab (default Super Speedy Robot) - every automated reply speaks as your named robot, clearly distinct from human admins, in the chat bubble and the admin conversation view
  • When an AI key is configured, search keywords are extracted in the same AI call that picks canned responses - no extra cost, and the response format stays locked down so a manipulated reply can at worst search for nonsense
  • Fixed a cleared Window Title refilling with "Chat" on the settings page after saving - an empty title now stays empty
  • The "Chat on WhatsApp" bar now follows your chosen window background and border colours instead of always being white
  • Renamed the WhatsApp tab's "Click to Chat" setting to '"Chat on WhatsApp" Link' so the switch is findable - untick it to remove the link from the bubble
  • NEW Admin messages colour on the Display tab - the bubbles for your replies can now match your theme too, with the same automatic dark/white text
  • Fixed the chat window being pushed below the screen after any desktop window resize, zoom change or dev-tools toggle while open - the mobile keyboard resize handling now only engages when a virtual keyboard is actually covering the page, and cleans up after itself when it closes
  • A failed chat session start now retries once and logs a console warning instead of leaving the chat silently dead (no history, no polling) until the next message was sent
  • Fixed a fatal error (HTTP 500) on the chat session request for logged-in visitors when Ultra Ajax is active - WordPress defines its login-cookie constants after the fast path runs, so identifying the logged-in user crashed instead; this is why chat history seemed to vanish on refresh for admins while anonymous visitors were unaffected
  • Fixed a wide header image (banner-ratio logos) pushing the chat close button off the screen on mobile - the logo now shrinks to fit, keeping its aspect ratio, and long window titles truncate with an ellipsis instead of overflowing the header
  • Fixed Search Assist never firing on Ultra Ajax sites - the fast path was intercepting the auto-reply request and skipping the search step, so sites without an AI key got no robot suggestions at all (mu-plugin 2.2.0, updated automatically when you visit the Settings tab)
  • Search Assist now retries with fewer keywords when the first search finds nothing - standard WordPress search requires every word to match, so one filler word could hide an obvious result
  • Fixed the robot's search suggestions rendering as raw code instead of clickable links - the message type was silently rejected by the database schema
  • NEW Delete Conversation - permanently remove a conversation and all its messages from the conversation list or the conversation view, with a confirmation step; deletion also cleans up participants and any Discord/WhatsApp mappings so nothing is left orphaned
  • Fixed clicking Edit or Delete on a canned response submitting the whole settings form instead - which re-saved every setting, never opened the editor, and on a stale login session dumped you at a login screen
  • Fixed chat and admin requests returning 404 on sites using plain permalinks - the REST URLs were malformed with a second question mark, which silently broke message polling and the canned responses list
  • The message box text is vertically centred on every browser engine: the input is hard-reset against theme and shop-plugin styling (so nothing external can skew it) and its line height exactly fills the content area, which makes the browser itself centre the text - verified identical in Chrome, Safari and Firefox rendering engines, desktop and mobile
  • Fixed the Volume setting having no effect on the front end - playback was locked to 30% no matter what the slider said; your chosen volume now genuinely applies to every open, close and message sound
  • Sounds no longer overlap or pile up: a new sound always interrupts the one still playing, and a batch of several replies arriving in one poll plays a single notification instead of a chorus
  • Saving chat settings now purges common full-page caches (Nginx Helper, WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, LiteSpeed) so colour, sound and behaviour changes show on cached pages immediately instead of whenever the cache expires

1.11.124 July 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings (shared across all Super Speedy plugins): added a settings-version report to the licence-check and download requests for better licence and update-download debugging

1.11.022 July 2026

  • NEW WhatsApp integration via the Meta Cloud API (no companion bot required)
  • Visitors can chat with you on WhatsApp - messages arrive in the admin dashboard like any other conversation, with replies delivered back to their WhatsApp
  • Optional Chat on WhatsApp link in the front-end chat bubble
  • Forward every chat message to your personal WhatsApp for instant phone notifications - quote-reply from your phone to answer, routed back to the right conversation
  • Replies from Discord now reach WhatsApp visitors and vice versa - all channels stay in sync
  • WhatsApp settings tab with webhook config display, test connection button and re-engagement template support for Meta's 24-hour reply window
  • Conversation list now shows a channel badge (WhatsApp/Discord) and WhatsApp conversations show phone number and reply-window status in the sidebar

1.10.520 July 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings to the latest version

1.10.418 July 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings to the latest version

1.10.310 July 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings refreshed the Super Speedy settings page with new plugin and service-panel icons (shared across all Super Speedy plugins).

1.10.210 July 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings (shared across all Super Speedy plugins): re-enabled TLS certificate verification on the licence/update check, escaped all dynamic output in the admin licence table, and added a capability check to the licence recheck handler.

1.10.110 July 2026

  • Updated super-speedy-settings re-enabled TLS certificate verification on the licence/update check (it previously accepted any certificate, so a network attacker could spoof the licence server or intercept the key). This lives in the shared Super Speedy Settings framework, so it applies to every Super Speedy plugin.

1.1011 June 2026

  • Fixed a bug where settings fields could be saved as 0 instead of their correct defaults on a fresh install.

1.095 June 2026

  • The "Require login to chat" setting is now actually enforced. Previously the checkbox existed but had no effect; now, when enabled, all visitor endpoints (session/send/poll/email/auto-reply) return 401 for anonymous visitors, and the chat widget replaces the message input with a log in / create account invitation. Conversations from logged-in users are linked to their account as before.
  • With Require Login enabled, chat requests route through the standard REST API instead of the Ultra Ajax fast path (mu-plugin updated to 1.2.0), since they need real WordPress authentication. Anonymous-friendly sites are unaffected.
  • Added `SSC_Settings :flush_cache()` for re-reading options mid-request.
  • The widget footer link no longer claims the plugin is free ("Powered by Super Speedy Chat").
  • New regression test tests/test-require-login.php.

1.0827 May 2026

  • Introduced the add-on extension API (SSC_ADDON_API_VERSION = 1.0) — channel integrations can now ship as separate plugins (WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram, etc.) and plug into core via hooks instead of patching it
  • Added SSC_Addons registry class — add-ons call SSC_Addons::register() to declare slug, version, channel, and minimum API version requirements
  • Added PHP message-lifecycle hooks ssc_visitor_message_sent, ssc_admin_reply_sent, ssc_bot_message_sent, ssc_conversation_created, ssc_conversation_status_changed
  • Added ssc_channels filter for channel registry, ssc_settings_tabs + ssc_register_settings + ssc_sanitize_options for shared settings, ssc_register_rest_routes for REST extension, ssc_conversation_sidebar + ssc_conversation_reply_footer for admin UI panels, ssc_frontend_config + ssc_enqueue_frontend for bubble extension
  • Added `SSC_Chat :external_inbound() and SSC_Chat::get_or_create_external_conversation()` public helpers so channel add-ons can route inbound messages into core without duplicating participant/message logic
  • Added channel column to ssc_conversations (default 'website') with one-shot backfill from ssc_discord_threads
  • Added front-end JS hook system at window.ssc.hooks (inline ~40-line lib, matches wp.hooks API surface) firing ssc.bubble.opened/closed/rendered/messageSent/messageReceived and a ssc.bubble.welcomeMessage filter
  • Added admin JS hook events ssc.admin.conversationsLoaded and ssc.admin.conversationRowRendered via wp.hooks (admin.js now declares wp-hooks as a dependency)
  • Refactored Discord integration to use the new extension API — moved tab/section/fields registration, REST routes, message-lifecycle listeners, and admin renderers from core classes into class-ssc-discord.php. Discord is now the reference implementation of the add-on API while remaining bundled with core.
  • Converted SSC_Admin::field_* and section_* settings renderers to static so add-ons can reuse them
  • Database schema bumped to v4.0.0
  • Note hook signatures may change without deprecation notices until the first commercial add-on ships. Once that happens the documented relaxed-deprecation policy applies (deprecations stay live for at least two minor versions).

1.07.120 May 2026

  • Updated the Super Speedy Settings page: added a "Recheck Licenses" button above the licence table so customers have a clear way to refresh licence status after a renewal or upgrade without scrolling down to the licence-key field. The button is disabled until a licence key is entered/saved and re-enables as you type.
  • The Recheck flow now also force-bypasses the auth-server's own 1-hour licence cache (via a force=1 flag on the wpiapi/check_product_key call), so renewals/upgrades that completed less than an hour before a recheck no longer show as expired/exceeded. Normal admin page loads continue to use both caches as before — only an explicit Recheck click bypasses them. (Lives in the super-speedy-settings submodule, so the change propagates to every Super Speedy plugin.)

1.071 April 2026

  • Added LLM auto-reply system — classifies visitor questions against canned responses using OpenAI or Anthropic and auto-sends the best match when admins are away
  • Added LLM Auto-Reply admin settings tab with provider, API key, model, and system prompt configuration
