Exclude older dates from search

Published · Last updated

Some admins may wish to exclude older items from the search results. Super Speedy Search provides this option.

Visit Settings > Super Speedy Search and find the ‘Select date to exclude older results’.

Enter a date in ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD) to not show any results prior to your selected date and Super Speedy Search will obey your command.

Best for
  • Shops that retire seasonal or discontinued lines and don’t want them surfacing
  • Editorial sites where old news or event listings clutter the results
  • Any catalogue where content ages out but you’re not ready to delete it

Excluding older items also trims the number of rows the search has to rank, so on very large sites this cutoff can give you a small speed win alongside the tidier results.

Note

The cutoff applies to the item’s published date, not the date it was last modified. It hides older items from search results only, it does not delete or unpublish anything, so you can move or clear the date at any time.

If your goal is to favour newer content rather than hide older content outright, look at Multi-search: Prioritise Recent Content for Faster Searches instead, which keeps everything searchable but ranks recent items first.
